Hey, friends! Matt and I were working on our August budget recently, and I realized how helpful it was to have this new addition to our monthly budgeting meeting: the annual expense sheet. I'm sure this is not a new idea by any means, but having a quick "cheat sheet" of those expenses that creep up on us and often wreck the budget has been SO helpful. Now, instead of the $80 license renewals messing up our plans, we prepare for it in the months ahead as we do our budget!
I created this little sheet and made it available for free download right here. Think about things like the twice-a-year dentist appointment, doctor physical, eye doctor appointment, re-ordering contacts or glasses, renewing those license plates, birthdays and anniversaries, the family trip that happens the same week each summer, medicine and vet visits for the family pet, yearly fees for subscription services, memberships (like Costco, the zoo or museums in your town), planning in the spring for yard maintenance and plants, etc.
Planning all that stuff out ahead of time can be a huge time (and headache!) saver when it comes to your monthly budget! Now, when we sit down to do our monthly budget, we consult the annual expense sheet to see if there is anything big that month that we need to take into account.
Hope it's helpful for you, and if you have any other awesome finance tips, pop them into the comments!
