my mexico trip

Two weeks ago, I had the amazing chance to go to Mexico with one of my favorite families ever as their nanny! I know, sounds crazy right? I feel kind of pretentious saying it....but this family is totally not pretentious at ALL and the only reason I went was because the kids' parents had to leave their spring break trip a few days early to get to a Very Important Business Meeting nearby, so I flew down to stay with the kids and fly home with them. And I must say, it was a pretty great trip! I flew into Cancun and after getting through customs pretty quickly, there was a driver waiting with a sign with my name on it! I felt pretty famous. He took me to the family's condo in the teeny little town of Puerto Morelos. The condo was right on the beach and it was absolutely beautiful.

The porch was perfect for hammock naps...

The kids and I had so much fun riding our rented bikes into town, where we got afternoon treats at the cutest cafe (ice cream for them, strooooong iced vanilla latte for me), watched fishermen from the pier and climbing on a fountain that looked like a Mayan temple. Pretty sure that last one was against the rules...

The town had the cutest architecture and huge, blooming bougainvillea everywhere. I absolutely adore bougainvillea.

We soaked up the rays by the pool and jumped in the ocean. It was a little too rough for snorkeling or kayaking, though. My favorite part of all was walking along the beach, scouring for sea glass. There was SO much of it! We turned our treasures into pretty necklaces.

On our last day, I took the kids to visit their parents at their AMAZING resort. Each room was a villa and you get to it by taking a water taxi through a mangrove preserve! The taxi takes you right to your dock and then you walk up to your room. Each room also had a private "plunge" pool. Butlers appeared out of nowhere to call golf carts to take you anywhere you wanted to go. I had the BEST fish tacos of my life and I sipped on mudslides and played with the kids in the ocean. Definitely not a rough life ;)

(this was the view from their rooftop pool!)

By the end of four days, my hair was a tangled mess of saltwater, sand and wind.

It was a great trip and a much-needed break from work, wedding planning and the fifty million other things on my plate at the moment! It made me SO excited for SPAIN with my man in just a few short months!
